Wow! $5000 donation!

Today, Thursday 7th December, several Hope Village Residents were treated to a lavish lunch at the beautiful Pine Forest Country Club. Hope Village was also presented with a check for $5000 from the Greater West Houston Womens Council of Realtors. We had a super time, everyone was so very nice to us. We cannot thank them enough. Here are a few pictures of the luncheon.

During the luncheon we were entertained by a group from Memorial High School who sang Madrigals and had the most beautiful costumes!
Thank you to everyone who made this such a special event.

Christmas Program a Great Sucess!

Once again the Christmas program was a wonderful evening of song, dance and the beautiful story of the Nativity. Thank you to all who worked so hard to put this show on. Some of you may not know that planning for the Christmas program begins in February each year and work on the program is ongoing throughout the year. A special thanks to Mrs. Claire Hollins, without her the program would not be the same.

Time Flies

I can't believe its been over a month since my last post, but boy have we been busy!
Hope's Harvest was a tremendous sucess! Thank you to those parents and families who supported this event. We expect to make almost $30,000. As you know this money goes to support the tuition subsidy paid by the Foundation to keep the tuition rates as low as possible. The more you help us with fundraising, the more the Foundation helps you!
Rumor has it that Fun Day was very, well, fun! A big thank you to Billie Payne for organizing this event. Also thanks go out to the Dunham Family for providing the brisket.
Next up, Christmas. Hard to believe that it is right around the corner. Once again we are firing up the Sponsor a Villager program. THis program provides Christmas presents to Villagers who have no family, or their family can not support them. If you are interested in Sponsoring a Villager please call Jeanie at 281-400-2006.
We are putting together a wish list for Hope Village, if you want to donate an item from the list please contact Jeanie at 281-400-2006. Below is a partial list.

Have you seen our Ebay store

We are really excited about the Ebay store. We have made quite a few sales already and it is getting lots of traffic. Our most popular items so far have been our super Root Candles. These candles are the best, they are soy based, long burning and have less smoke than wax based candles. They are available in our gift shop as well as online. Check them out! Candle season is here!!!

Big Happenings at Hope

Wow its been almost a month since my last post....thats because I've been working so hard!

I have some exciting things to tell you about:

Kimberly has taken over as the Hope Village webmaster and she has done alot of work on the website.....in fact we have two web sites now. Make note that we are switching from hope-village.net to hope-village.com. Both sites will be up for a while but eventually the .com site will be the only one. There are some new pages on the site, but we are really exited to have a donation page where you can actually make donations thru paypal using your credit card or paypal account. Anyone who wants to test it for us can make a small donation!!!

I have been working hard to set up an ebay store for the Hope Village Gift Shop. Ebay has a corporate giving program call missionfish which, once your registered, gives back all fees from listing and selling on ebay. That means that Hope Village recieves 100% of the sale. If you sell on ebay or know someone who does, you can donate a portion of your profits to Hope Village.
You can pick a single item and designate the amount you want us to recieve. I will be adding items to our store as I get a chance. So far we are selling some ceramics, candles and resale shop treasure, in fact you need to go our ebay store and check it out for yourself. http://stores.ebay.com/Hope-Village-Gift-Shop . You might have to copy and paste this address into your web browser.
If you like something that we sell in the shop and its not in the ebay store let me know and I will put it in.

Don't forget to mark October 7th on your calendars. Hopes Harvest should be a blast. Our theme is Passport to the World of Wine and we will be featuring....wines from around the world.
Anyway it should be a fabulous time, and we already have some great auction items!!!

Stay Cool!!!!

Hope's Harvest 2006 Passport to the World of Wine

Greetings to the super supporters of Hope Village!

Planning is well underway for the 2006 Hope's Harvest: Passport to the World of Wine. The wine and art event is scheduled for October 7th from 7-10pm. Tickets will be for sale soon. We need your help with the following items:

Donations of artwork for the auction- do you know a local artist/artisan who would be willing to donate an item(s) for auction. Last year we had a little bit of everything; paintings, ceramics, mosaics, wood carving, jewelery, etc. we need a wide variety again this year, ask your friends!!!
This is a good opportunity to advertise their work.

Donation of items for silent auction: anything, really.... tickets to sporting events, wine, wine related items, anything that can be put together in a basket. Use your imagination......!

Marquee tent... we are hoping to set up a tent to use for overflow seating. we need use of tent for one night......hopefully someone can donate one or knows someone who can!

We will be looking for workers to help set up, decorate and clean up after the event. If you can help us by donating you time to the event let me know.

I know this year will be even better than last year, with your help it will be a great sucess.

Two great guys having fun out at the Golf Tournament! Posted by Picasa

Other news at Hope Village:

The Resale shop grand opening had to be canceled, we had an unfortunate incident involving a car and the building...ouch! which has set us back a bit. We are looking forward to reopening by next week. We are still accepting donations of clean clothing, lightly used furniture, household items, etc.

Friday night we are hosting a dance for our friends in the local community. Look pictures in next weeks blog.

Also on the calander is the annual pilgrimage to Bayou Vista for a great day of fishing, swimming and boating. This is everyones favorite summer outing.

Hope you are all enjoying this great last spring weather!
